You might be wondering why the name 'Pumpkin House'? There is a story behind the name. In my first year working as a speech pathologist back in 2011, I met a very lovely four-year-old boy who had Autism, with whom I developed a special bond with. He used to call our therapy space a 'pumpkin house' - one of his first few words at the time. Why he called our space a pumpkin house remained a mystery to me until today. Nonetheless, the name stuck with me. I would like to think that a pumpkin house represents a happy and safe place for a child to learn, play and thrive.
I begin my private practice as a sole trader in 2014 in Point Cook, and subsequently opened up Pumpkin House Speech Pathology in Williams Landing in 2020.
I look forward to welcoming you to Pumpkin House.

Our speech pathologists provide assessments in the areas of speech, language, and pragmatics (social-communication) are available for toddlers, preschool and school-age children.
Our speech pathologists work with children with various communication difficulties such as difficulties with speech, receptive language, expressive language, and social-communication.
Pumpkin House Speech Pathology provides paediatric speech pathology services, with a focus on early childhood intervention services (0-6 years). We offer mainly centre-based, individual speech therapy sessions carried out on a weekly or fortnightly basis, during school terms.
At Pumpkin House, we believe in being family centred and we take a neurodiversity-affirming approach in our practice.
A child with speech difficulties often has difficulties producing speech sounds accurately. Consequently, family members, peers or teachers may have difficulties understanding him or her.
When a child has language difficulties, he or she may have difficulties in understanding spoken or written language, or difficulties in using spoken language to express his or her wants, needs, thoughts, emotions or ideas. He or she may have trouble understanding verbal instructions and stories or may have trouble stringing words together to form sentences.
A child who has social-communication (pragmatic) difficulties often has impaired social interactions with his or her peers. A child with such difficulties often has trouble in initiating an interaction or a conversation, maintaining an engagement, reading subtle social cues, and behaving in a socially-appropriate manner.
Stuttering typically begins in children younger than 6 years of age, and most commonly in three year olds. A child who stutters often talks with repetitions (e.g., 'ba-ba-ball'), prolongations of sounds (e.g., 'baaaall') or blocks (e.g., 'b.....ball'). Treatment is essential for young children who stutter.
